Drew Abernethy is an Executive Director with PGIM Real Estate, and is a member of the Core Portfolio Management team. In this role, his primary focus is on the investment and management of core loan portfolios for third-party investors. Drew is located in San Francisco, CA.
Drew joined the company in 2004, and holds valuable commercial mortgage origination and investment experience. He has played a key role in the company’s global expansion, including establishing international originations teams and executing investments in Japan, the U.K. and Europe. Prior to assuming his current role, Drew was responsible for financing a broad range of commercial mortgage products and proprietary capital sources throughout the greater Washington D.C. and mid-Atlantic markets in the United States. He previously served as head of the company’s European originations team based in London, a position he held from January 2012 until his return to the United States in June 2015. In London, he was responsible for development of the company’s European core mortgage lending platforms.
Earlier, Drew was based in Tokyo, where he served as a director from December 2008 to December 2011. There, Drew was responsible for setting up the company’s Japanese mortgage lending business for Gibraltar Life, one of Prudential Financial, Inc.’s Japanese insurance subsidiaries. Before moving to Japan, Drew held roles in the southeastern U.S. Originations and eastern U.S. portfolio management teams. Drew received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, and a CFA® charterholder.
