Is this a good time to buy? Volatility and uncertainty continue, making these some of the hardest times to decide on a robust investment strategy.

The good news is that the inflation-driven turmoil of the last six months is bringing its own opportunities.

In the bond market, negative government issues yields (remember them?) are gone. The safest issues now carry decent coupons while further down the quality scale, default fears are creating a host of mispriced corporate bonds.

On the equities side, it’s the same story. The tide has gone out and the seriously debt-laden businesses, along with purveyors of fads, lockdown memes and vapourware have been fully exposed.

But the tech and health revolutions have not been interrupted while the drive to decarbonisation and green energy security now makes sense to the whole world as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The result is a host of companies set to own the future whose current price/growth ratios may offer interesting opportunities
