Fernando Herrera is a managing director at PGIM Real Estate and serves as the head of Latin America Transactions and debt Capital Markets. Based in Miami, Fernando is also responsible for the global accounts portfolio, defining, coordinating, and executing investment strategies throughout Latin America.
Previously, he was the senior portfolio manager for one of PGIM Real Estate's residential funds in Latin America. His responsibilities included managing relationships with PGIM Real Estate's residential joint venture partners, overseeing the acquisition and development of mixed use properties, implementing strategies and processes focused on maximizing the value of the assets, and performing the day-to-day management activities of the portfolio. Subsequently he relocated to Chile to lead PGIM Real Estate’s expansion into the Andean region, investing in both Chile and Argentina.
Fernando has also served on the Board of Directors of Paz Corp S.A. (Chile).
Prior to joining PGIM Real Estate, Fernando served as a manager at Banamex (Citibank) on the real estate finance team. In this capacity, he was responsible for the underwriting of commercial real estate loans. During his 10 years at Banamex, Fernando worked in risk management, in which he was responsible for feasibility studies of construction bridge loans for homebuilders, mortgages, and for developing a system to appraise the bank’s collateral.
Fernando has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana and an M.B.A. from the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. Fernando, a Mexican & U.S. citizen, is fluent in English and Spanish. He is also conversant in Portuguese.
