As retirement gets closer, the years leading up to it can become some of your most important saving years. Increasing contributions, taking advantage of catch-up provisions, and staying invested can help strengthen your financial readiness and support your long-term retirement goals.
If you're age 50 or older, catch-up contributions allow you to save beyond the standard 401(k) contribution limit, providing an additional opportunity to build retirement savings before leaving the workforce.
1 IRS Notice 2025-67. Certain higher-income participants may be required to make catch-up contributions as Roth contributions. Consult your plan materials for details.
