SUSTAINABILITY

PARTNERSHIPS & INITIATIVES

Collaborating through industry organizations and initiatives

Engagement across the industry is another important aspect of good stewardship. Many sustainability-related initiatives exist worldwide, many with broad remits. PGIM has carefully chosen to join those organizations from which it believes its investment groups will best benefit, and to which it will be best able to make a positive and active contribution.

Under the aegis of PGIM, our investment groups are members of: The Council of Institutional Investors (CII), Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) Sustainability Alliance and ICGN (International Corporate Governance Network). PGIM is also a Research Funding Partner of Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI).

Additionally, PGIM investment groups collaborate with world-leading organizations including, amongst others:

PRI

PGIM's Fixed Income, Quantitative Equities, Jennison, Private Credit, Real Estate and mcp investment groups are all signatories to the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI).  The Principles were developed by the investment community and reflect the view that sustainability issues can affect the performance of investment portfolios and should be considered by investors to fulfil their fiduciary (or equivalent) duty. The Principles provide a voluntary framework by which investors may incorporate sustainability issues into their decision-making and ownership practices.

THE UK STEWARDSHIP CODE

Fixed Income and Real Estate investment groups are signatories to the UK Stewardship Code. The Code sets out 12 stewardship principles for those investing money on behalf of UK savers and pensioners and sets responsible investment and reporting standards for signatories, across engagement, client reporting and stewardship. The Financial Reporting Council is responsible for developing and reviewing the text of the Code and assessing if an applying organization can be considered a signatory to the Code.

GRESB

Real Estate investment group has been a GRESB Participant since 2013. GRESB is an investor-driven organisation that assess and benchmarks the sustainability performance of real assets. Real Estate has steadily increased the number of participating global funds to 26 in 2024 (equivalent to 87.6% global AUM), and continue to see improvement in their GRESB scores year after year.
